HIPPA
Eligibility for HIPPA (Continuation of Benefits):
- The individual must have at least 18 months of creditable coverage without a significant break in
coverage.
- The individual's most recent coverage must have been under a group health plan.
- The individual cannot currently be eligible for Medicare or Medicaid or covered under any other
health insurance.
- The individual has both elected and exhausted any continuation coverage available under COBRA
or a similar state program.
You can be denied continuation of your health plan under HIPPA for:- Nonpayment of premiums
- Defrauding the carrier
- Termination of
the group plan plan
- Relocating outside the coverage area
- Termination of an association membership (if your initial health plan was though one)
Benefits:
- Guaranteed continuation of your health coverage after COBRA expires
- Pre existing conditiond don't effect your coverage
